The idea for my pitcher was first realised at the Dorset County Show in 2019. I was in their Leisure and Gift tent, and an elegant female browsed my stall and asked if I made a large pitcher. She stated that she had been looking for one for a while, and it seemed that other potteries didn’t make them. The dance of designing and creating objects that customers have inspired is a massive motivating experience for me as I enjoy making items that will be useful and customer-led.
My journey in crafting this larger jug began with the template form for my large vase. I was immediately drawn to the pitcher's slim, tall silhouette, which inspired me to create a simple yet striking form accentuated by the spout and handle. The three distinct brand colours, pale blue-grey, sandy beige, and dark grey-blue, add a touch of uniqueness to the pitcher, making it a truly captivating piece.
Picture a late summer night, the sun setting, and the air filled with the warmth of good friends and family conversation. In this moment, the pitcher transcends its role as a vessel with its refined, tactile surface and dark grey-blue colour. It becomes a part of the memory as you pour out a final glass of your evening beverage, marking the end of a beautiful day and the beginning of cherished memories. This emotional connection transforms the pitcher from a mere product into a symbol of the moments you treasure, evoking a sense of nostalgia and warmth.
The sandy beige pitcher reflects the sand of a well-walked beach, and this colour would add to any lunchtime or evening feast. The pitcher's natural colours—the sandy exterior, the natural grey-blue handle, and a hint of green interior—draw on the aspects of a tranquil river winding its way through the countryside. Bringing to your table a restful reminder of summer walks.
The pitcher is hand-thrown on the potter wheel, drawing on my advanced technical skills developed over the last eight years and my passion for ceramics and design, which was first birthed at school thanks to my art teacher, Mrs Stonebridge.
I am committed to ensuring that all of my work continues to be created by myself, keeping the artisan aspect of my brand. This commitment guarantees that each pitcher is crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, ensuring its quality and uniqueness.
Imagine the joy of presenting this pitcher as a gift to a homeowner who appreciates the beauty of handmade products and the art of entertaining. It's not just a pitcher, but a symbol of shared moments and cherished memories. It's a unique wedding present that will be treasured for years, a conversation starter at any gathering. Share the story of the pitcher, its unique elements, and the artisan who crafted it, and you'll be sharing a piece of art and a piece of yourself.
