Introduction To Pottery For Two

Each participant has half the session on the potter's wheel and half the session hand-building, which can include slab building or coiling.  If you are completely new to pottery Karen Dawn Curtis will take you step by step through the different processes. If you are an improver, Karen will support you with the two projects you would like to make.

These sessions with just two participants mean you will have ample support.

By the end of the session, you will have a hand-built object, such as a planter or pot and a thrown object. Two objects each will be fired and glazed.

The lady who took the class was very welcoming, and was interested in what we needed from the course. I enjoyed the throwing session very much, and was also shown other techniques. There was good correspondence regarding how to get to the venue, where we could park and eat etc. I would definitely book another class. The environment where the studio was based is inspiring and in a comfortable setting.

My daughter and I attended Karen's pottery class and had a great morning.

The class was relaxed and informal, Karen talked us through the process of throwing the clay and demonstrated the process before letting us loose on the potters wheels. Throwing the clay is a lot harder than I thought it would be physically but would definitely have another go. Certainly would recommend a class with Karen. Was very impressed with the Covid procedures Karen has in place, felt a very safe environment, strict cleaning of utensils, no sharing of equipment, open window, hand sanitizer etc.

All I can say its the best fun.

All I can say its the best fun.  Thoroughly enjoyed it!  I bought it for my friend for her birthday..  I would recommend to anyone..  I probably was the worst ever on the wheel...  but I loved it..   Karen makes you feel at ease and as completely ridiculous mine came out she still is encouraging.  We did just the 2hour taster course..   and everyone should give it ago...

A completely absorbing two hours.

We both loved this introduction to pottery with the opportunity to both slab build and throw something. Karen had endless patience and is very encouraging. It was a completely absorbing two hours, exercising our underused creativity and an opportunity for "messy play". I'd heartily encourage anyone to have a go.
